After school on Friday, she was waiting and waiting for her friends to get there. She had everything ready, food, games, movies. It was all waiting to be eaten or played with.
DING DONG! DING DONG! THE BELL WAS RINGING! Mia could hardly believe her ears! She raced to the front door, patted down her floral sundress and opened the door.
“Hey guys!” Mia said to her guests.
“Hey Mia! Wow, I can’t wait for this party to start!” Juliet said.
“Yeah, me too! This is going to be so much fun!” Becky squealed.
“Come on in!” Mia invited them.
“Wow, your house is so pretty Mia!” Jane said while examining her house.
“Yeah, it really has that old country touch to it,” Lily told her.
“Oh thanks guys, yeah we Johnson’s like to go country since we lived in the west before,” Mia explained.
They all walked in the living room where they saw all the games.
“What are we going to do first Mia?” Bethany asked.
“Well, what do you guys think?” Mia said taking a seat.
“What do you have planned for us to do?” Lily asked.
“Oh, I have lots of stuff to do, we could play Twister?” she suggested.
They all nodded their heads, so Mia got the game out and set it up.
“Left foot green Juliet,” Becky said.
They had been playing the game for at least fifteen minutes when Mia’s mom and dad came in the room.
“Hi girls! Oh wow, someone’s in a pickle,” Mia’s mom said when she saw all of the girls tangled up from playing Twister.
“Hi…hi mom, hi dad,” Mia said trying to look under Jane’s leg.
“We’re almost finished Mr. and Mrs. Johnson,” Becky said.
“Well, have fun girls, Mia, we’re going to a party so we won’t be back till late, have fun,” her dad told them.
“Okay, bye!” Mia said.
“Right hand blue!” Becky said.
After the girls finished their game, they went outside and jumped on the trampoline.
“This is so fun Mia!” Bethany announced.
“Yeah, this is even better than Shelby Watkins party last year!” Lily joined in.
“Well, I’m honored!” Mia said jumping up and down starting to get dizzy.
Soon they just all fell down at the same time and laughed.
“So, girls gather around, everyone must tell their most embarrassing moment in their life!” Becky said.
“Well,” Juliet said, “The most embarrassing thing in my life was when I got in trouble for sneaking scissors from Miss Dooley’s desk in second grade,”
Mia got uncomfortable once it was her turn to say her most embarrassing thing that happened to her in her life.
“Okay, its Mia’s turn!” all the girls announced.
“Um, well,” Mia fidgeted.
“C’mon Mia, everyone told theirs,” Lily said.
“Well… okay I guess,” Mia gave up.
All of the girls listened closely to what Mia was about to tell them.
“Um, the most embarrassing thing in my life was when I tripped over a bottle of water and fell into C.J. Baker’s arms,” Mia blushed.
All the girls were silent and then Bethany spoke up, “That is the best embarrassing moment ever!”
Everyone started clapping and whistling.
“What? How is that the best?” Mia asked.
“You fell into C.J.'s arms! I mean it is rare for a girl to fall into Phil Baker’s arms, Mia,” Jane said.
Mia started to think about it and the more she contemplated, the more she understood.
It was rare for someone to fall into C.J.'s arms. And she was the first girl ever to do it.
“Let’s all go inside and have a snack!” Mia exclaimed.
They all went inside and had a good time.
